Fayetteville rates as hot spot for veterans to retire
Fayetteville, North Carolina is an idea spot for veterans to retire, according to a national magazine.
In the November/December issue of Where to Retire, Fayetteville, North Carolina was on of eight five-star towns for military retirement. Fayetteville earned points because of its proximity to Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base, patriotic support, and cultural and recreational activities. Also considered were Fayetteville's proximity to mountains, beaches and Raleigh.
Fayetteville moves up to 31st Best Performing City in America
RALEIGH - In their annual economic performance index, the Milken Institute ranked Fayetville, NC, the 31st Best Performance Large city in the nation. This is a jump from 52nd place last year and a leap of 131 places since 2003
"This type of recognition from outside sources is great for the city of Fayetteville and the entire County," said Doug Peters, Chamber President. "It's time that people see Fayetteville as a major player in the economic development of the State."
This year Fayetteville rank third in the state behind Durham and Raleigh and was only one of two North Carolina cities on the list that did not decline in the rankings. In 2008 Fayetteville ranked sixth in the state behind Asheville, Charlotte, Durham, Raleigh and Wilmington.
Cities in the index were ranked based on how well they create and foster jobs, and the data used in the assessment reflected both long- and short-term measurements of employment, wage/salary, and technology growth/.
