Caviness and Cates Donates to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

Posted on: Feb 11, 2011

On Saturday February 5th Caviness and Cates presented a check to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund for $30,400.  This presentation took place at the FireAntz Military Appreciation Night Hockey Game.  In attendance at the game were many military families, including Ret LTC Tim Maxwell and his family who accepted the check on behalf of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Ret LtCol Tim Maxwell, USMC, was wounded in Iraq in 2004 when a mortar round exploded and shot shrapnel into his brain.  As a result of his injuries, Maxwell now suffers from traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Maxwell and his wife Shannon are using their experiences to help other wounded soldiers and their families.  Throughout their personal experiences and their work with soldiers with TBI, Maxwell and his family have become familiar with the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund; and were honored to accept the donation from Caviness and Cates on behalf of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

The donation from Caviness and Cates is the result of the success of their HomeFront Project: a pledge to donate a portion of their sales from each and every home sold in 2010 to help raise funds for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. A leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund provides support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. David A. Winter, Executive Vice President of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund stated “[we] are proud to have been supported by the very generous efforts of Caviness and Cates.”

Caviness and Cates feels privileged to have been able to present their donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at the FireAntz Military Appreciation Nigh Hockey Game.  When speaking about the HomeFront Project and their contribution, owner Chris Cates stated, “We were honored to present the donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and our team is proud to be giving back to the community in such a large way.  This donation would not be possible without our homebuyers;they are the ones who make the HomeFront Project possible.”
