From its beginnings as a small railroad town dating back to the early 1900s, Knightdale continues to this very day to be one of Eastern North Carolinas fastest growing and prosperous towns. With its rich and storied history leaving a lasting imprint on the towns cultural, architectural, and physical landscape, its people and events both past and present have molded Knightdale into a town emitting a warm lively feeling that truly is the embodiment of the term Southern Charm. The development of Knightdale Station is a direct result of these characteristics that make the town the hidden gem that it is, borrowing elements from their historic past and helping evolve through the present and into the future, adding value to the town while continuing to build on the tradition of the community.

-KNIGHTDALE STATION PARK-

Knightdale Station Park is much more than just a recreation center convenient to residents of the Knightdale Station community. It represents the forward thinking by the Town of Knightdale that is responsible for the successful development of the community and all that it offers residents and visitors alike The 76-acre municipal park offers two miles of paved trails, the towns first dog park, athletic fields, and a playground that has to be seen to be believed. The extensive farm and train-themed play area is a reminder of Knightdales railroad and agricultural past. Theres a train with tunnel and slides, a working railroad crossing with lights and bells, a 2-story silo, a play chicken coop, a corral of bouncy horses, a cow to climb on and lots more to inspire the imagination.

There are bathrooms right next to the playground and a large picnic shelter perfect for birthday parties. A vine trellis right next to the playground is designed for stroller parking. And theres plenty of parking for cars too. The two miles of trails go through groves of trees and along a boardwalk on a pond. Both Knightdale High School and East Wake Academy plan to use the parks trails for cross country runs.

Phase II is well under way with tennis courts, an amphitheater, farmers market, and arboretum.

-YMCA-

Just as the features (and fun) of Knightdale Station Park will open in phases over the next few years, so will the facilities of the Knightdale Station YMCA. First to openfor Memorial Day 2015 will be the YMCA Aquatics Center. In addition to the outdoor pool, the Aquatics Center complex will include a pool house with offices, space for lifeguards and restrooms for swimmers, plus a Kids Camp building with separate restrooms for younger swimmers.

The pool and deck area will comprise 23,000 square feet and the entirety of the Aquatics Center will take up about three acres. The whole YMCA facility will take up about eight acres when completed.

-THALES ACADEMY-
The Triangles preeminent private school system is opening its first eastern Wake County campus in Knightdale Station. Thales Academys sixth Triangle campus, the Knightdale Station K-5 elementary school will open for the 2016 academic year with plans for future expansion. (The site for a future high school has already been identified.)

Thales Academy began in 2007 with 30 students and the goal of providing an affordable world class education. Within two years Thales enrolled 500 students at two permanent locations (Apex and Wake Forest) and opened its Raleigh campus in 2010 followed by Rolesville in 2014. Thales Academy currently serves more than 1100 students in the Triangle.

The academies are named for Thales of Miletus (624 BC 546 BC) who is regarded by many as the Father of the Sciences and of Western Philosophy. Thales Academies follow his example of classical excellence. Students at Thales Academies receive an unparalleled breadth and depth of education, as Founder and Chairman Robert Luddy believes that Education is more than the mere accumulation facts. It is a journey where students come to know and pursue truth.
