Because of its close proximity to Raleigh, Clayton offers a robust retail and services sector. Downtown Clayton boasts many quaint specialty shops, and restaurants, the town library, an ice cream shop, weekend farmer's market, the Clayton Center which attracts nationally known acts, jewelry stores, and more than a dozen personal care businesses. Some of Clayton's oldest businesses are still in operation today. A strong effort to protect and preserve downtown Clayton has helped the area maintain its economic vigor and historic charm. Interstate 40 is about five miles from Winston Pointe. Shopping, dining, and entertainment are just minutes away. The community park is just up the street with walking trails, ball fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds.
A major shopping area with restaurants and a movie theater is about ten minutes from here. Also, all of the assigned schools are within
three miles of Winston Pointe. Many people move here from neighboring counties just to be able to be in Johnston County Schools.
We are very excited that BusinessWeek magazine has recently rated Clayton's schools in the top ten of the country's most affordable places for families to live and assure a top education for their children.
