December 15, 2017

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Caviness and Cates,  a nationally-leading home builder headquartered in Fayetteville, NC, has announced that it is purchasing lots from R.S. Parker Homes in Myrtle Beach, SC, as R.S. Parker transitions its business from home building to residential development.

Ronnie Parker, Jr. of R.S. Parker Homes has expressed confidence in Caviness and Cates in this time of transition.

“The transition from builder to developer will be a seamless one for all of our existing new home clients,” said Ronnie Parker, Jr. “Residents within our existing neighborhoods can all rest assured that the balance of new homes in these neighborhoods will all be built to the same high standards as they’ve come to expect from RS Parker, because we have partnered with the builders in the Carolinas.”

Beginning in January, Caviness & Cates will purchase non-contracted lots in Myrtle Beach from R.S. Parker. The total number of lots to be purchased and marketed to new home buyers by Caviness and Cates and another homebuilder is approximately 600. Caviness and Cates already have a well-established presence in the Myrtle Beach area, building in more than eight Myrtle Beach communities.

Chris Cates, the owner of Caviness & Cates Communities, added, “Our partnership with RS Parker presents a great opportunity for Caviness & Cates to continue our growth within the Myrtle Beach market. Adding five new communities to our portfolio will result in an additional 150 new home opportunities in 2018. We believe the shared quality and values of RS Parker and Caviness & Cates make this an excellent partnership opportunity.”

Caviness & Cates will buy a significant portfolio of undeveloped lots from R.S. Parker as they become available in the coming year. “This partnership with Caviness & Cates is for the long-term,” said Parker. “We look forward to continuing to work with these builders for many, many years to come.”

According to Parker, the firm employees approximately 50 people, most of whom will potentially transition their employment to Caviness & Cates. RS Parker will retain its warranty personnel in Myrtle Beach and the Triad to continue to provide warranty support for its new homes in those markets.  In addition, RS Parker’s subcontractors and vendors will also transition to Caviness & Cates, and several already have existing working relationships with the firm.

Finding the right building partners for this transition was critical to its success, according to Parker. “We’ve been friendly competitors with Caviness & Cates for the past several years in Myrtle Beach and have always been impressed with their quality and professionalism. We look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
